Update: Man Hit By Truck Door Dies From Injuries

Smithfield, NY (WIBX) - A 68-year-old man who was struck by a pickup truck door has died from his injuries, according to New York State Police.

On Monday morning, Richard McNamara was standing in his driveway speaking to Laverne Jones, 80, who was sitting in his truck with the door open. As Jones began backing up to leave, his door hit McNamara causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head, police said.

McNamara was first listed in critical conditiion but died today at the hospital.

The accident investigation in complete and Jones will not be charged, police said.
