U.S. Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced on Wednesday that they have secured over $635,000 for local law enforcement entities across upstate New York.

The funding is for the U.S Department of Justice's bulletproof vest partnership program that senator Schumer co-sponsored. The money will split the cost of new body armor with local law enforcement agencies.

This will provide enough funding for over 2,800 vests throughout upstate New York.

Among the municipalities receiving are:

  • Village of Cooperstown -- 5 vests for $2,175 dollars
  • Village of Walton -- 7 vests for $2,808 dollars
  • Delaware County -- 17 vests for $7,650 dollars
  • Chenango County -- 5 vests for $1,837 dollars
