Upstate NY Man Gets 25 Years For Killing 71-Year-Old Man
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A 43-year-old Binghamton man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in the slaying of a 71-year-old man who was sitting in his pickup truck outside a Syracuse convenience store waiting for a friend.
Michael Walker was sentenced Monday for a manslaughter conviction in the August 2015 shooting death of David Stiner of Syracuse. Investigators say Stiner was sitting in his truck when two men got in and pointed a gun at him in an attempted robbery. Stiner, a retired auto mechanic, was shot in the head.
Walker's co-defendant, 42-year-old Elijah Mitchell of New York City, pleaded guilty in July to first-degree murder, admitting he targeted the victim for robbery and fired the fatal shot. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
