The United States bombed the Al-Shayrat airbase in Syria late Thursday.

Several national news outlets are reporting the strike include more than 50 Tomahawk missiles.

President Donald Trump spoke shortly after the news broke, calling on 'civilized nations' to join U.S. in 'seeking to end the slaughter and bloodshed in Syria. Trump said the attack comes on the heels of the 'horrible' chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians and children by Syrian President Basha AL-Assad. He also said it comes after 'years of failed attempts' to bring an end to the use of such weapons by Syria.

Trump ended by saying 'Good night, and God Bless America and the entire world.'
