After earning their first victory of the 2014 Paralympic Games on Sunday, the USA curling team was hoping to use some of that momentum to climb up the standings with wins against the first and second place countries.

But, it was not to be. Monday's action saw the US lose its first match, 7-2 to Canada, and come up just shy, 6-5, in the afternoon session against Russia.

The two defeats drop the Americans to 1-4 thus far in round robin action with only four games to play.

Only, four of the ten participating counties advance to the semi-final round.

The US will need four wins, and some help, in their effort to return with a medal. They have a bye in the first session on Tuesday before a match with Finland (1-4).
