Utica And Police Union Reach New Agreement
The City of Utica and the Utica Police Benevolent Association have a new five-year contract.
Mayor Robert Palmieri says under the agreement, all new hires by the Utica Police Department must contribute 20% toward their chosen health care plan
Palmieri says that's a substantial increase.
Current police officers will see an average salary increase of 1.65% a year over the duration of their contract.
In addition, the new contract will extend all officers work weeks to 41 and 1/4 hours.
The agreement is retroactive to 2011.
