More than $300,000 in federal funding has been awarded to the City of Utica Housing Authority to launch the Community Fire Safety Education project.

Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand secured the funding trough the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters program.

The project will increase smoke alarm inspections throughout the City of Utica and create advanced fire safety educational programs.
