Utica Budget Vote Tonight

Utica, NY (WIBX) – The Utica Common Council finished up its departmental hearings by delivering an alternate version of the 2012-13 budget.
Last night the council adopted a few final reductions that trimmed nearly $200,000 from the Utica city budget, effectively dropping Mayor Palmieri’s proposed 18-plus-percent tax hike by one-percent.
Last week, the council trimmed a similar dollar amount and a percentage point from the proposed budget.
Finance Committee Chair Ed Bucciero says the goal is to work towards keeping the tax hike to a single digit.
The Common Council will meet tonight to vote on the new budget.
