As Central New York is still digging out from Stella, we are beginning to realize the many effects this storm has had on our region. From the damage at Turning Stone, to the damage at Utica College, Stella has caused nothing but headaches. Unfortunately here in Utica, Stella has destroyed the Charter School greenhouse.

Local meteorologist Jeff Mathews began working with students in this greenhouse back in the beginning of 2017. The project started out as a way for the kids to grow foods that they could incorporate into school lunches. Students would be able to learn ecology, self sustainable, and what "going green" could really be.

However, during Stella, those dreams were put on hold. Due to the weight of the snow, the greenhouse caved in killing all plant life inside. However, that isn't stopping Mathews and the students. A GoFundMe has been launched to raise $1,500 to build and operate a new greenhouse.

We are way behind the 8-ball now, because Spring is here, and we have no structure to even begin with, what has already been donated. The need is immediate and far more than we have resources for.

You can make your donations and learn more from GoFundMe.
