Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties presented The Utica Children's Museum with a 25-thousand dollar grant today.

The money will go towards the addition of some much needed handicapped bathrooms on the third floor.

Executive Director of the museum, Marlene Brown says it will be a major convenience for school field trips, since there are only bathrooms on the first floor.

"If one child has to go to the bathroom, the teacher or chaperone has to bring that child all the way to the first floor," said Brown.

She goes on to say this will benefit all visitors, including those with strollers, visitors in wheelchairs, or anyone who may be on the third or fourth floor.

Brown expects the project to begin immediately.
