A former Utica chiropractor has pleaded guilty to faking exams and reports to facilitate fraudulent workers' compensation claims by employees of the Central New York Psychiatric Center.

The New York State Inspector General's Office says 47-year old Eric Szatko of Sauquoit pleaded guilty in Utica City Court to falsifying business records.

As part of his plea agreement, Szatko surrendered his license to practice as a chiropractor and agreed to pay $5,000 in restitution

The guilty plea covers Szatko's actions that happened in early 2016 involving three separate employees of the psychiatric center.

The IG's Office says the psychiatric center employees were able to take time off because of Szatko's fraudulent reports.

"The integrity of the Worker’s Compensation system is crucial to protecting honest, hard-working New Yorkers, and I will continue working with all of my law enforcement partners to pursue and root out anyone who corruptly abuses it." said Inspector General Leahy Scott.
