Today is an important day for the Utica City School District. Voters in the city are encouraged to get out and cast their ballot for who they feel would best represent the students and teachers of the district.

All three of the candidates are vying for two seats on the board and two of the three are long-time incumbents. Current School Board President Chris Salatino and Vice-President Lou LaPolla are defending their seats against a new challenger, Briana Moriarty.

Moriarty has been endorsed by the Utica Teacher's Association union, which sparked a heated conversation during the debate which occurred on 'First News with Keeler in the Morning.' Moriarty claims that the teachers have not been communicated with, but Salatino challenged that. You can hear both portions of the debate as it aired on WIBX 950 on Friday, May 12th, 2017 below.
