The Utica Comets logged their seventh win in ten games on Friday night in Milwaukee as goaltender Joacim Eriksson logged his fourth shutout of the season, a 3-0 win over the Admirals.

Darren Archibald, Kent Huskins and Alex Biega each scored for the Comets
while Eriksson stopped all 21 Admirals shots on goal. Eriksson’s fourth shutout ties him for the most shutouts by a goaltender in the American Hockey League.

Archibald opened up the game’s scoring 3:55 into the second period. Alex
Biega broke into the Admirals zone and found Darren Archibald streaking down
the left hand side. Archibald fired a quick wrist shot from the faceoff
circle past Marek Mazanec for his eighth goal of the year.
Just five minutes later Kent Huskins found the back of an American Hockey
League net for the first time since Feb. 23, 2007, as a member of the
Portland Pirates. Colin Stuart set-up the goal from along the boards just
inside the Admirals zone, Colin Stuart found Huskins streaking in on net. A
wrist shot from the slot beat Mazanec low blocker side. The goal was Huskins
first goal of the year.
Archibald and Biega hooked up again 15:01 into the second period. Alex Biega
one-timed a shot on goal off a feed from Jeremy Welsh, Archibald, all alone
in front, deflected the shot over Mezanec’s shoulder for his second goal of
the game.
The Comets out-shot the Admirals 31-21. The Comets went 0-2 on the power
play, and killed off Milwaukee’s one and only power play.
With the victory the Comets have improved their record to 18-22-2-4, and
have now won seven out of their last 10 games.
The Comets are back in action Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. in Rockford,
against the IceHogs.
