The Utica Comets paid tribute to the victims of the last week's tragic bus crash that killed 16, including many members of the Humboldt Broncos Canadian hockey team.

In Friday night's contest with the Syracuse Crunch, all of Utica's jerseys were customized with 'Broncos' across the back nameplate - normally each players' own last name is displayed.

The crash on April 6, 2018 involved a bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos, a team in the 20-and-under Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, which collided with a tractor trailer. Media reports this past Friday said ten people were still hospitalized, two critical.

Utica fell in overtime, 2-1, to the rival Crunch.

The playoff-bound Comets earned a point, but trail Rochester by three points for third in the division.

Utica has two games left in the regular season: Saturday night in Belleville, and Sunday afternoon at home vs. Binghamton.

Rochester ends it's regular season Saturday night in Syracuse.
