It wasn't the way the Utica Comets wanted to start the new year.

The Comets fell to the San Antonio Rampage, 8-4 in a New Year's Day matinee at the Utica Auditorium.

Alex Biega, Brabon DeFazio, Niklas Jensen and Cal O'Reilly scored for the Comets, who are now 7-1-3 in their last 11 games.

Comets' starting goalie Jacob Markstrom was pulled in the second period n favor of Joacim Eriksson after allowing five goals.

Coach Travis Green says the team needs to put the game behind them.

The Comets play at on Adirondack Friday night.

They'll return home on Saturday night to host the Iowa Wild at 7:00.
