Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Utica Common Council will meet this evening to talk about municipal power.

Councilman Jim Zecca has introduced a resolution to establish a committee to investigate the formation of a City of Utica Municipal Power System.

Zecca says more than 50 municipalities in New York, including the City of Sherrill and Villages of Ilion, Boonville and Hamilton run their own public power systems with rates significantly lower than investor-owned utilities

Tonight's meeting will take place at 5:30 in the Common Council Caucus Room.
