Utica Council Votes To Explore Municipal Power
Utica, NY (WIBX) – The Utica Common Council is moving ahead with a plan to investigate the possibility of bringing municipal power to the city.
The council voting 8-to-0 to form a 10 member panel that will explore the issue.
Councilman Jim Zecca sponsored the legislation, he believes municipal power will help lower energy costs for residents and businesses within the city.
Mayor Rob Palmieri is expected to make his committee member selections in the near future.
A final report containing the group’s findings is due on December 31st.
