Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica's State Department of Transportation Office will not merge with the DOT Office in Syracuse.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says Governor Cuomo has decided not to close any regional DOT offices as proposed earlier this year.

Brindisi says while streamlining government and making it as efficient and effective as possible is a priority, it must be done in ways that will not effect services the community relies on, including infrastructure maintenance and repair and snow removal.

The closure would have affected around 200 employees currently working at the Utica DOT office.
