Utica DPW Worker Hit By Van

Kristine Bellino, WIBX

A Utica DPW worker was injured when he was hit by a van early this morning on the 700 block of Herkimer Road.

Utica Police say 52-year old Rocco Labella was stopped on the side of the road when he was struck by a van driven by 45-year old David Newman of Utica.

Police say Labella was wearing a reflective vest and the DPW truck had its amber lights on.

Newman was ticketed for failing to yield to the DPW vehicle.

Labella suffered several fractures and internal injuries that police say did not appear to be life threatening.
