Utica, NY (WIBX)- The City of Utica is gearing up for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Varick Street celebration.

Utica Police say Genesee Street, from Columbia Street to Watson Place, will be closed from 8:30 until 12:30 and Varick Street, from Columbia to Court Street, will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 8:30 a-m to 7:30 p-m.

Police are reminding revelers that no back packs, bottles, cans or coolers will be allowed on Genesee Street during the parade or on Varick Street during the festivities following the parade.

And additional DWI patrols and a full compliment of Utica Police officers will be present on the parade route and on Varick Street and surrounding areas to ensure public safety.
