Utica Hosting Public Safety Day
Utica, NY (WIBX) - This weekend, residents of Utica can meet with local firemen, police officers and the mayor during the city's inaugural Public Safety Day.
On Saturday, from 11 to 3 at City Hall, families can participate in chalk art contests, watch taser and aerial climbing demonstrations and even win a bicycle.
Mayor Rob Palmieri says the event is a great way to introduce the public to the city's emergency responders.
"It's just a great opportunity of sitting and seeing where your tax dollars are going, bringing your kids down there," Palmieri said. "It may be a career down the road that they're looking at, but I guess it's an opportunity to be able to talk and meet the heroes that we have."
Child seat inspections and child ID photos will also be available.
