Utica, NY (WIBX) - The city of Utica is taking measures to improve safety at the intersection of Genesee Street, Oswego Street and Clinton Place.

Last week, a truck hit the traffic signal at the intersection, taking it out of service.

The traffic signal will be upgraded in the next few weeks with a modern traffic controller.

Meanwhile, the city is closing Oswego Street and Clinton Place to traffic from Genesee Street.

Signs will also be put in place.

The signs are intended to slow traffic on Genesee Street for the safety of pedestrians crossing the street at the intersection and to advise motorists that Oswego Street and Clinton Place are closed.
