Utica Man Arrested After Hitting, Strangling Girlfriend In Home

Utica Police are still investigating an incident involving a man who beat and strangled his girlfriend in front of her baby.

Officials say on February 20, they received an early morning call from a woman who said her boyfriend, 31 year-old Malik Boyd, came to her home and started arguing with her.

During the argument, Boyd allegedly hit her in the face and strangled her, but she pushed him off. He then strangled her unconscious in another room, in front of her infant child.

Boyd is charged with strangulation, assault, criminal mischief and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Other charges are pending.
