A Utica man is facing felony charges for allegedly stealing a vehicle.

According to New Hartford Police, they responded to the Sangertown Square Mall on September 18th for a reported dispute involving a stolen vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle informed police that it had been stolen from his residence that morning, and he was able to track it to Sangertown Square. When the owner arrived he located his vehicle in the parking lot with a male in the driver's seat.

A brief struggle ensued before the male suspect fled on foot. Following an investigation the suspect was eventually identified as 19-year-old Abas Osman of Utica.

He was arrested and charged with Felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree. He has been remanded to Oneida County Jail in lieu of bail. He will appear again in New Hartford Town Court at a later date.
