A Utica man is facing numerous charges following a domestic dispute and police chase.

Utica Police say 56-year old Robin Jackson allegedly hit his girlfriend in the face and threatened her with a gun before driving off.

An officer tried to pull Jackson over on the 1500 block of Taylor Avenue, but he failed to stop and shouted obscenities from the car.   Police say Jackson pulled into a driveway, exited the vehicle, told the officer "y'all gonna have to shoot me" and ran inside a house.

They say a few seconds later, Jackson came out of the house with a black bag that reportedly contained a handgun and taunted officers, saying “Shoot me mother-f&%ers." While Jackson allegedly reached into the bag, an officer tackled Jackson to the ground.

No gun was found inside the bag.

Police say while escorting Jackson in handcuffs to the police car, he intentionally damaged the car door by kicking it and head-butting a panel on the vehicle.

Utica Police Chief Mark Williams commended Sergeant John Abel, Officer Paul Dewey, Officer Clifford Wiley and Officer Maynard Anken for exercising restraint by not using their weapons on Jackson, who was baiting them to shoot.

Jackson is facing charges including criminal contempt, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and harassment.
