Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man faces a slew of crimes after allegedly attempting to steal a GPS.

According to Utica Police, UPD officers were called to Park Avenue and Blandina Street, after a GPS was taken from a car.

When they arrived, Rafael Vargas, 42, of Mary St. in Utica, had already been caught.

A State Trooper had been in the area for other business when a witness told him about Vargas, who was seen breaking a window and stealing the unit.

When the trooper stopped him, Vargas had the stolen item and was arrested.

He is charged with one felony count of Criminal Mischief, and misdemeanor counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property and Petit Larceny.
