Utica Man Charged With Attempted Murder

A Utica man is facing charges in connection with a shooting that happened last week on the 800 block of Mohawk Street.

24-year old Jose Garcia is charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon.

Utica Police say Garcia, who is also from Puerto Rico, allegedly shot another man during an argument. Police say the victim has since recovered from his injuries.

With the assistance of the United States Marshal Task Force, Garcia was located at a residence on the 800 block of Jay Street in Utica. He was taken into custody without incident.

Utica Police were assisted in their investigation by New York State Police.
