A Utica man has been found guilty of heroin trafficking charges following a two-day trial in federal court in Syracuse.

53-year old Luis Estela was convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to sell heroin.

The U.S Attorney's Office says Estela was a member of a heroin trafficking ring operating in Utica and Rome.  They say he helped the organization package heroin and assisted in selling drugs along the Erie Canal Trail in Rome.

Estela faces up to 20 years in prison when he's sentenced in November.
