Forestport, NY (WIBX ) - A Utica man is facing a slew of charges after failing to stop at a snowmobile checkpoint in the town of Forestport.

According to Sheriff Rob Maciol, on Saturday afternoon at around four, deputies say Paul Barnes, 31, failed to come to a complete stop at a check point on Lone Pine Road.

When asked to stop, he then sped off. Deputies blocked off the next intersection on Route 28, where Barnes arrived a few minutes later.

He was taken into custody and charged with several crimes including Failure to Comply with Police Order, Reckless Operation, Unregistered Snowmobile, Failure to Stop at Roadway Crossing and Uninsured Snowmobile.

His snowmobile was also towed away.
