Utica Man In Jail On Rape, Sex Assault Charge

A Utica man is in jail after officials say he allegedly sexually assaulted two people.

Aweys Shakunda, 37, of Noyes Street, was arrested following an investigation into two incidents that occurred during the past year.

Shakunda is charged with one count each of Rape and Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child.

State Police worked with the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center and Oneida County Child Protective Services on the case.
