Utica Man Learns Giving Police A False Name Is Illegal

Utica, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man learned the hard way that it’s not wise to give police a false name. When the man, who police say was obstructing traffic when he was pulled over, told them his name was Nanya Basul-El. But, a database check revealed that he wasn’t being honest about his identity.
The officials soon learned that, Nanya Basul-El, was actually, 48-year-old Darrell McGee of Eagle Street. Because it’s illegal to give police false information, McGee was arrested and charged with False Personation.
