Utica Man Sentenced In Insurance Fraud Case

The former owner of Kitty's On The Canal in Utica has been sentenced for his role in an insurance fraud scheme.

55-year old David Morgan of Utica was sentenced to 21 months in prison today in Federal Court in Syracuse.

He was also ordered to pay over $1.4 million in restitution and will serve three years of post release supervision.

Morgan pleaded guilty in 2012 to mail fraud.

The United States Attorney's Office says Morgan, along with his wife Cynthia, helped stage an auto accident on Harbor Lock Road in Utica in 2006 in order to collect insurance money.
