A Utica man has been sentenced to 27 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

50-year old Angelo Santalucia pleaded guilty in May.

The U.S Attorney's Office says Santalucia admitted that from January 2011 to August 2015, he received boxes of marijuana delivered to Utica by the U.S, Postal Service.

They say the marijuana was grown in California and moved through "stash houses" in Las Vegas before being mailed to Santalucia, who delivered the pot to others for distribution and sale in the Utica area.

He also admitted that he sometimes paid others to receive the boxes of marijuana on his behalf.
