A Utica man will spend two and-a-half years behind bars for his role in a marijuana conspiracy.

The U.S Attorney's Office says 44-year old Richard Williams was arrested last June after taking possession of a U.S. Mail parcel containing four pounds of marijuana.

Investigators say Williams had received numerous parcels containing marijuana over a several year period, all shipped from California. They say Williams would then sell the marijuana to customers in the area.

Williams was charged with being a participant in a marijuana conspiracy from 2011 to 2014. He pleaded guilty in January and admitted to distributing between 220 and 880 pounds of marijuana over the three-year period.
