Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - A Utica man has been sentenced to life in prison in U-S District Court in Syracuse.

Flay Rood, 58, had pleaded guilty to a six-count indictment on child pornography charges.

Rood has admitted to producing child pornography and distributing it on the internet.

Although a life sentence was imposed, the court ordered that if Rood should ever be released from prison, he would be placed on supervised release for the remainder of his life and register as a sex offender.

Rood's arrest was the result of an investigation by Utica Police, the Oneida County District Attorney's Office and the County Child Advocacy Center.
