Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri is taking time to recognize the efforts of first responders during a fire that broke out last week.

The fire at the Pulaski Meat Market was quickly brought under control just before midday on November 22, 2013.

In a written statement released this morning, November 25, 2013, Palmieri said, "I commend the Utica Fire Department on a job well done...The fire was quickly contained and extinguished with no reported injuries.   Had it not been for the quick response from the UFD there would have been far more damage.   Pulaski Meat Market is an iconic, family owned business in West Utica.  Owners Vincent and Barbara Bulawa have proudly served the residents of our community for several years and the City of Utica will assist them anyway we can moving forward."

The fire is still under investigation.
