Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica Mayor David Roefaro says Osama Bin Laden represented all that is wrong with humanity, and his death marks a turning point for the U.S., the world, and the fight against terrorism.

Roefaro said, "I believe that this is a victory for America, I believe that some had lost hope but most of us have not. And I can honestly say that this is a turning point to show that America will not sit back and let the September 11th attacks be in vain. I cannot applaud the president and all the officials who made this happen enough. This has been a long ordeal and they never gave up hope, they never gave up their search and it represents what we're about in America. The bottom line is that it gives us all hope for what is right for America and what is right for the world actually."

Mayor Roefaro's official released statement:

"Osama Bin Laden represented what is wrong with humanity. His death marks a turning point for all of us as we reflect on where we were and what we were doing on September 11th. For nearly ten years, America looked over its shoulder as it fought the evil Bin Laden preached. My prayers are with our area families who have lost loved ones because of this horrible human being. May his death propel renewed hope in eradicating terror all over the world."
