The first Peregrine Falcon egg of the 2015 season hatched Saturday morning in the nest box located at the Adirondack Bank Building in Downtown Utica.

The Utica Peregrine Falcon Watch Project says the first of four eggs hatched and it's expected that the rest of the eggs will hatch in the coming days.

In 2014, the Utica Peregrine Falcon pair of Astrid and Aries became the first of their species to successfully hatch and fledge young from a site in Oneida County.

Peregrine Falcons remain on the New York State Endangered Species list. There are over 70 pairs nesting in the state with about half of those located in cities.
