One of three Peregrine Falcon chicks left the nest box on the Adirondack Bank Building in Downtown Utica this week.

It became the first of its species to ever fledge from a nest in Utica or Oneida County.

The fledgling's maiden flight took him from the nest box to the State Office Building about a block away.

The two  remaining falcon chicks, both females, are expected to leave the box in the coming days.

During the fledgling process the parent birds, Astrid and Aires, are expected to keep a close watch on their young and visit them wherever they may land.

You can follow the falcons on the Utica Peregrine Falcon Watch live web cam.
