All around the country law enforcement is doing all that they can to stop the epidemic of drug addiction. The number of people dying from heroin or other opiate overdose is on the rise. Luckily the men and women of the Utica Police Department are well-trained on this life-saving treatment.

Late Wednesday afternoon Utica Police responded to a call of a drug overdoes at a residence on Sunset Avenue between Amy and Barton avenues. According to UPD Lt. Brian Coromato, a woman has apparently suffered an overdose. When police arrived they administered the Narcan. The female then became conscious and the Utica Fire Department arrived on scene to give her oxygen and transport her to St. Elizabeth's hospital, which was near by. She is alive and is expected to make a full recovery. No names or other details are being released at this time. These officers saved a person's life today and to them, it's just another day on the job. Thank you to all the local first responders for all that you do.
