Utica, NY (WIBX) - According to Utica Police, they've  responded to 32 calls for "shots fired" across the city since August 1st. Several of the incidents occurred on Mason Street. and Nichols Street.

In one of the incidents on Nichols Street, 3 people were struck with gun fire. According to Utica Police, it's apparent that some of the shootings are related and that they were retaliatory in nature.

A few days ago the investigators were able to develop enough evidence to charge several
suspects, arrested were 21-year old Terry Smith, he's charged with Reckless Endangerment
and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, both felonies. He is charged in relation to an incident
that happened on August 21st.

Also Arrested was 28-year old Vennie Coleman on 3 Counts of Menacing. Coleman is charged in relation to an incident that occurred on Elizabeth Street on August 16th, in which it's alleged he pointed a gun at three people in a vehicle.

And a third man, 23-year old Shakir Elliott was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, felonies, Unlawful Imprisonment, Harassment, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Resisting Arrest.

According to police, Elliott was the third suspect wanted for the shots fired incident on Schuyler Street and Wager Street. Police say they received a tip that Elliott was in the area of Kossuth Ave. When officers checked the area, Elliott fled on foot into a construction site on Kossuth Ave. Officer surrounded the area and while searching, they found him hiding under a trailer and he was taken into custody. Police believe He struck a person and held them to the ground.

All of these incidents remain under investigation and more charged are possible.
