Utica, NY (WIBX) - The results are in...and Utica Police are reporting they took in roughly 70-pounds of unwanted prescription drugs from folks in the community. It was all part of "National Prescription Drug Take Back" day, which took place over the weekend, (Sept 29). The initiative was started by the U.S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration.

UPD Chief Mark Williams says the items will be disposed of in an environmentally safe manner. The program, he adds, ensures that unused or expired medication does not fall into the wrong hands.
