The Utica Police Department has officially added three new recruits to their force. In a ceremony yesterday the new department hires took the oath of office in front of Mayor Rob Palmieri and Chief Mark Williams.

The three new additions to the Utica Police Department were chosen from 25 candidates following extensive background check, polygraph test, and interviews. Their family and friends were on hand to witness the start of their journey and the three newest Utica Police Officers are Brian Comeskey of Utica, Steven Gomez of Utica, and Amanda Maciol of Holland Patent.

Immediately following the ceremony Comeskey, Gomez and Maciol joined their fellow recruits from other departments for 26 weeks of training at The Mohawk Valley Police Academy at MVCC. There is where they will engage in physical fitness training, firearms training, emergency vehicle operation training and more. There are a total of nine officers representing the Utica Department at the Mohawk Valley Police Academy.

Following their academy these three officers will be partnered with a veteran officer for 12 weeks of field training. Both Mayor Rob Palmieri and Chief Mark Williams welcome the officers to the Utica Police family and wish them well on their careers.
