Utica Police Release Name Of Homicide Victim

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Utica Police have released the name of the victim in this morning’s fatal shooting.

Police say 24-year old Anthony Garner of Utica was shot at around 12:30 this morning in the area of James and West Streets.

Garner was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say 30-year old Marshall Jackson of Utica, who was in possession of a handgun, when he was arrested in the area. Jackson has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon, and does not face charges in connection with the homcide.

The investigation is continuing.

It’s the city’s second homicide in two weeks.
