Utica Police Release Name of Victim in Saturday’s Fatal Hit and Run

Utica Police are now releasing the name of the victim in Saturday's fatal hit and run near Burrstone Road and Sunset Avenue.

45-Year-old Peter Primeau of Rutger Street in Utica died at the hospital after he was allegedly hit by a vehicle at approximately 10:50pm on March 14, 2015.

A tip from a Good Samaritan, coupled with witness accounts, led to the arrest of 50-year-old Richard Hefferon in connection with the incident.  Hefferon is facing a felony charge of manslaughter in the first degree after police allege that he was driving the truck that struck Primeau.

Authorities had held off releasing the name so that they could find and notify Primeau's family.
