A man who was left with burn injuries on more than forty percent of his body says he did not recognize the man who literally set him on fire.

UPDATE: 10/15/2014 06:13am  Police say the victim, identified as 48-year old Ronald Perdriset, is a level three sex offender.  Level three sex offenders are classified as those with a "high risk of repeat offense and a threat to public safety."

Perdriset was convicted in 2004 of two counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child under the age of sixteen in 2003.  The conviction was for Perdriset's behavior with a 14-year old boy in 2003.

Police say they are still searching for the alleged assailant.

Original Story:

At approximately 1:42am on Saturday, October 11, 2014 Utica Police responded to a home on Nichols Street after receiving a call about a man on fire.

Once they arrived they found the 48-year old victim, who told police that someone knocked on his door and, when he answered it, an unknown man threw some type of liquid at him and set him on fire.

The victim sustained burns to his stomach, thighs, and both hands.  He is being treated but is listed in serious condition at a burn center.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male approximately 5'9" tall who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt at the time of the incident.
