Members of the Utica Police Department's Community Outreach Team visited Mohawk Valley Community Action's Calvary and Cornerstone Head Start locations on Friday.

The visit was part of a program called "Adopt a Cop."

The objective of the program is to provide positive experiences between children and police officers.

The goal is to build trust and establish friendships with children that will continue to grow over the years.

The UPD's Community Outreach Team was introduced last month to help bridge the gap between police and the community.
