The City of Utica is bringing back its sidewalk improvement program.

The program had to be cut from the budget the past three years due to financial concerns.

Mayor Robert Palmieri says the ability to bring back the sidewalk improvement program without raising taxes is further evidence that Utica's finances are improving.

The Mayor added that Infrastructure improvements were a major issue raised by residents at the neighborhood budget meetings he attended with the Common Council, and the reinstatement of this program shows that they're listening to and addressing the concerns of constituents.

The sidewalk improvement program is a reimbursement program to help offset the cost to the owner for replacing their sidewalk. The city will reimburse the owner $4 a square foot with a maximum rebate of $1,000..

The funds for the program are allocated on a first come, first serve basis.
