In case you haven't noticed, gas prices in the Utica-Rome area are skyrocketing.

AAA's Ed Welsh says prices are up 13 cents over the past week to an average of $3.80 a gallon.

He says an increase in the price of crude oil and an increased demand for gas are the two major factors that have led to the price hike.

Welsh says he doesn't expect prices to go much higher.

We're paying about 20 cents a gallon more than we were last year at this time.
