Utica, NY (WIBX) - After stalling for about two weeks, local gas prices are climbing again, almost daily.

In the Utica-Rome market, the average cost of a gallon of gas sits at $3.76 this week, an increase of six-cents from last week, according to AAA's Central Regional General Manager Ed Welsh.

One year ago, the average price locally was $2.93 a gallon. In January of 2009, the average was $1.81, Welsh said.

The situation in Libya is only making things worse, he said, because Libya daily production of more than one million barrels per day was stopped since the uprising began.

Prices will continue to rise, Welsh said, as the summer driving season, and the more expensive summer-blend fuel, makes its way into the market.
